The history of Glycine watches
Glycine was established in 1914 in Switzerland by Eugène Meylan. He began with tiny movements for ladies watches, encased in gold or platinum and often adorned with diamonds.
In 1934 the chronometer range was launched. Although the war years were difficult, Glycine still managed to show at Basel in 1938 and have shown there ever since. After the war Glycine produced automatic watches. In 1952 they produced VACUUM chronometers and 1953, the AIRMAN was launched, allowing wearers to view two time zones at the same time.
In 1984 Hans Brechbühler purchased the company, creating a quartz collection and expanding into new geographical markets.
Now an internationally known and respected brand, Glycine continues to grow.
